I Didn’t Mean to Fall In Love with You

It’s true, I have been seeing some of your closest friends, months before we started seeing each other. It wasn’t you that I was looking for – because you always seemed so unavailable, unattached, and indifferent. You didn’t seem to care about whatever was happening around you just as long as you had your closest friends with you. You had your own little world, I thought.

Most of the time that I randomly see you around, or bump into you on the streets, made me smile a little. You were so mysterious, and somehow that sparked my interest, but I didn’t really try anything. As I said, you always seemed uninterested. We have been friends for years, and never in those years have I thought that we would see each other as someone special. Because it just wasn’t like that – and we were really just friends. I knew you and you knew me, but we never really knew anything about each other that much.

Until that time that a friend of ours had us paired. We talked for days, in ways we haven’t before. I didn’t think this was possible. There was a line of girls waiting to have their chance with you, and you picked me. You chose me.

As I said, it wasn’t you that I was looking for, but when I found you, when you came around, I stopped looking.

I didn’t mean to fall in love with you, but the way your eyes sparkled whenever you talked about your passions and your dreams, the way you walked, the way you talked, the way you made sure I got home safe after dinner, and all the little things I have observed while we were getting to know each other, I knew I was screwed. I didn’t mean to fall in love with you but after a few days of spending time with you, all I could think of was your smile. Your dimples, how they shyly appear whenever you talked and laughed. I knew I had to see more of that, and that one day – I’d love to be the reason behind it.

I didn’t mean to fall in love with you, but it’s the greatest thing that I ever did. If it would ever be considered as a mistake, well then – it is the most beautiful mistake that I have ever made, and I’ll be glad to do it over and over again.
